baby stuff
Camp was great. It was unbelievably hot, but still nice. I went down Friday night and stayed until early this afternoon. I went to the falls yesterday with my dad and the dog. The water was brown because of all the rain and runoff. I sat on a huge dry rock and soaked my feet. It was very refreshing considering it was over 90 degrees. It was so much cooler down there than it was at our campsite too. Later that day after 7 or so, I went swimming with all the neighbors. Well, I didn't go swimming. I walked into the shallow end. I carried one of the neighbor girls around because she was too little to go far. That was refreshing also. :-) Then later that night we had heat lighting and a downpour. This morning it rained until an hour or so before I left. It was still at least 85 or so. And this is NY. Go figure. The only reason I'm still alive after camping in this heat wave is because the camper has air conditioning which kept it a pleasant 76 inside. ;-)
On Friday I finally picked up my travel system from the post office. It was too big to be delivered to my house. It was more worn than I expected, but it's in great shape for being used. In my haste to pull it out of the box, I accidentally pulled on the shade over the car seat. The little plastic thing that adjusts the level of the shade is now nearly broken so the right side of the shade will not stay in place. O well. At least it's not something major. The car seat is a 3-point harness. I've read that both 3-point and 5-point are ok on an infant only seat, but someone told me that they won't let you leave the hospital without a 5-point. Is there anyone else in NY who knows if that is true or not? I have a 5-point convertible car seat on my registry that I hope to get, but I would like to use this car seat as well.
Also on Friday, I went with Tom to look at a matching crib and changing table set. I fell in love. They are in unbelievably good condition. The crib side is easy to raise and lower as is the matress. It has wheels, but they lock in place. I'd call it a sleigh back crib for those of you who know what that is. The changing table is large and it has two strong shelves. The woman also gave me several sets of sheets for both the crib and the changing pad. I got that all for $180. I didn't bother haggling because I knew it was a good deal. A crib like that would go for $200 or so new and a changing table like that would go for about $100 new. Plus I got all the extras. :-) Did I mention they're in great shape?
Mom just reminded me that my next appointment is tomorrow afternoon. I have to take my glucose test. I'm kinda worried, but not much. I haven't noticed any change, nothing to make me think I might have GD. But it does run in the family as does regular diabetes. I also just can't wait to hear his heartbeat again. I just can't wait to hold him in my arms. Now all potential complications are plaguing me tho. I keep worrying that he will come early, which is the only real possibility. I also worry about preeclampsia and toxemia and all those other wonderful things. And c-sections. I really really do not want one. Hopefully I'm worrying over nothing, which I probably am. That's just what happens when you count down the days and you think so much about it.
As soon as the rest of my siblings get out of school they are going to work on the computer room. I cleaned the room itself and vaccuumed the floor before we got the crib. But the shelves of books and movies needs to be gone through, the computer desk and filing cabinet need to be cleaned off and out, and the closet needs to be emptied. Then I am going to steam clean the carpet, but I doubt that will help anything. And we are going through the paint to see if we have anymore of the blue that is already in the room. We'll definitely need some more anyway. Tom can paint the ceiling and the walls. Then I might try to get someone to sponge paint clouds on the ceiling, but we'll see how I feel later. I want the room all painted and ready by July 31st because that's my baby shower. This is the only place we can store everything so it needs to be done. That way I won't have to move everything back out to paint it and back in again. I love decorating. This is going to be so fun.
My breasts are not cooperating so I'm going to go into the bathroom now... Not that you wanted to know. :-) Sarah, I hope that baby comes soon! And I'm sure he will be healthy and hopefully not stubborn! Amber, walk everywhere all the time! Maybe we can hurry Miss Madison along!!
